Peg and pole or frame marquee?

The decision which marquee to choose mainly depends on look, location and the surface to be installed on. In general, the more 'traditional' looking Peg and Pole Marquee with its pointed roof shape and its elegant and impressive style, which has internal poles and guy ropes around the outside, is only suitable for grass areas. Or our Clip Frame Tent Hire with its modern and sleek look with no centre pole or guys ropes around the outside**, allows you to make the most of your space, and is suitable for both soft and hard surfaces. What is your biggest Festival marquee for indoor exhibitions?

Our biggest peg and pole marquee is 12m wide. You can have combinations of 12m wide sections e.g. we can go 12 x 18, 12x26, 12x36. We don’t do the “structure” marquees. Our biggest marquee can be 10m x 50m. We don’t have anything larger, although we can do two rows of 10m wide marquees with a gutter.

What’s the difference between cheap marquee hire and more expensive marquee hire?

We were referred to a client last year who rang in a panic, because her booked wedding marquee was damaged six weeks before her wedding. The hire firm was unable to keep its commitment. The marquee in question wasn’t a New Zealand made marquee, didn’t handle the wind, and had ended up on its roof too damaged to repair. We assured the client that we would supply her a more robust option (that’s the advantage of using a marquee from us – being professionals, we like to stock marquees that will go the distance). We said that regardless of the weather, we would ensure a suitable replacement was available for the event. We duly travelled to install a more high-calibre marquee and the wedding went without hitch. .

What are the weather risks with marquee hire and installation?

Both peg and pole, and frame marquees will withstand weather when erected. The peg and pole marquees are more weather dependent for installation, because the roof of the peg and pole marquees is lifted all in one section, so if the wind on erection is above 30km/hr we may need to come back later to complete the canvas. On frame marquees, you can set up the frame but the roof goes up in sections which gives more flexibility if it’s an exposed location. So it’s good to bear these marquee hire options in mind if you have an exposed location.

What if there’s a lockdown?

The 20% deposit is payable on booking. The full payment is normally due 2-3 weeks in advance of your event/function. If you cancel before the marquee(s) goes up, we will hold any moneys received indefinitely until you can rebook.
